The AppEx team is a brand new group formed within OSD to build consumer applications for the modern generation of devices like tablets. Users on these devices spend a lion’s share of their time in apps, join in from the ground up to be a part of this newest frontier of innovation. The team is currently laser-focused on Win8 and releasing a fantastic set of apps for the platform that generated so much excitement at the recently concluded //build conference.

Now is the time to dig into the cutting edge of Microsoft platforms from Windows Runtime to Metro-style fast and fluid UI all building on the awesome scale and power of the OSD technology stack that powers Bing, MSN and adCenter. We are looking at serving the best of high-quality data from across the Web sliced and diced to provide precisely what the user is looking for within the app context. The work is both server-side involving web-scale data ranging from evergreen content to real-time data updates, serving this up in a performant, scalable and extremely low-latency manner to client-side work on rich applications pushing the boundaries of the rich user experience on the Win8 platform. Requirements for the role:

• L60 role
• Industry software development experience of 2+ years, preferably on a web-based product
• Experience with Web technologies e.g. DHTML/JS/CSS
• Web domain knowledge e.g. Security, Latency/Perf/Scale optimization
• C#/C++ experience
• Bachelor's in Computer Science preferred
